WELCOME BACK!!! MY APOLOGIES! This is what I know.
District IT is working on several responses to recent network slowing with several responses. We continue to work on this solution. Some of these will have some effect on network usage as follows:
Personal Device Reminder: All personally-owned devices, such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops should ONLY be used on the AD12Guest WiFi network.
District Computers connecting to the AD12 WiFi network are being moved to the new A12 network. This primarily affects District Chromebooks, Macintosh computers and District iOS devices like iPads.
All District Chromebooks should begin connecting to the new A12 network. If your Chromebooks are not connecting to any network, please select the ad12guest network. Once connected the Chromebooks will then sync the new policy from the Management Console and automatically switch to A12.
District-owned Windows Laptops and Desktop PCs should remain unchanged on the Adams12 network.
AD12Guest Network bandwidth has been adjusted down slightly to ensure capacity for our production network. Generally this should not affect the user experience except for high usage applications
AD12Guest Network Login will be put into place within the next three weeks. More details will be available regarding this login before this is provisioned. Likely, we will use something like a Gmail account for guest user login. We are currently testing systems and the actual change will be described in detail.
Increasing District Bandwidth: We are also now in the process of rapidly increasing the bandwidth of our Internet connection to accommodate for continued growth and expansion.
We ask for your patience as we work over the next few weeks to move our network and our fleet of devices to a more stable configuration. If you expect that you will be significantly affected by these changes, or if you are already being affected, please call the IT Service Desk for support during this transition.
