Classwork

Reading-This week we are going to focus on some CLOSE Reading responses using; CLAIM- A statement about the results of an investigation.
EVIDENCE-This includes a direct quote, text evidence or any other proof that you may have found to support your claim. This includes the use of EBT.
REASONING-Explain in your own words how your evidence proves your claim is correct.
  
Class Read- Hatchet by Gary Paulsen- We will work on Depth of Complexity literature circle jobs as a whole class. Today we worked on using vocabulary in context.  

Read Aloud- A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements

Writing- Informational Writing- Elements of an Informational Piece
Wrapping up our research and beginning to work on our introductory paragraph.
Math- 3.8 Using a number line to rename fractions.

Read Aloud- A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements

Writing- Informational Writing- Elements of an Informational Piece Brainstormed ideas and came up with a minimum of 3 questions about their topic.
Today we did a little journaling.  We worked on POV.

Math- 3.6 Estimate and assess reasonableness of an answer to fraction addition and subtraction problems.

Math-Math Exemplar  A Fence for Gretchie and Ashby  This was definitely a challenge for the whole class.  I love walking around and listen to the chatter of mathematical strategies.
Social Studies-YAT “The Story of Money” We had table challenges to see how many ways to make a dollar using coins.  The winning team came up with 43.  There are 293 way to change a dollar.

Young AmeriTowne (YAT)

Hello parents,

I am emailing you because I have a volunteer opportunity for you,Young Ameritowne.  Before I upgrade your willingness to volunteer to the committed status, I want to make sure that you are aware of the dates and responsibilities.  I will need you to commit to helping with:
* job interviews for the students from 1:25-2:30 on November 7
* business staff meetings from 1:15-2:20 on November 13
*Young Ameritowne (in Cherry Creek) from 8:30-1:30, on November 16, 2017.

Committing to all the dates is necessary for consistency.

Additionally, you will need to complete the online webinar orientation (25 minutes) that can be found at www.yacenter.org .

Please email me,asap, if you are able to commit to these dates, and I will confirm your participation.  Space is limited, so don't delay!
